My Internship Experience
Eurostars Gran Hotel Santiago | Santiago de Compostela, Spain | April, 2024
During April of 2024, I had the opportunity to complete an internship at Eurostars Gran Hotel Santiago, where I worked as a receptionist and assisted in the dining room. I quickly adapted to professional Spanish etiquette and learned effective communication with customers in person, over the phone, and via email. This experience deepened my appreciation for the Spanish hospitality industry. Working alongside Spanish professionals boosted my conversational skills and increased my confidence using "usted" in professional settings.
My front desk responsibilities included checking guests in and out, processing payments using the hotel software, making reservations, and responding to inquiries in both Spanish and English. Each morning, from 8 to 11 a.m., I checked guests into the hotel dining room for the breakfast service and communicated with the front desk to add charges from the dining room to guest profiles when necessary.
