Below is a list of the courses I completed at Clemson University as part of my degree in Spanish and International Business. These courses reflect my diverse academic background, combining in-depth studies of Spanish language and culture with a strong foundation in management, marketing, economics, and accounting. Language Oriented Courses

​SPAN 1010- Elementary Spanish
Beginner Spanish class taught mostly in Spanish. Focused on grammar fundamentals and everyday vocabulary. This course provided a solid foundation for speaking and writing in Spanish.

​SPAN 1020- Elementary Spanish II
A continuation of SPAN 1010, this course utilized previously established frameworks to expand written and spoken communication in Spanish. The class was mainly taught in Spanish with projects and presentations in the target language.

SPAN 2010- Intermediate Spanish
Introduced more complex grammatical structures like the preterite, imperfect, and subjunctive. Learned new vocabulary units and focused on oral presentations.

SPAN 2020- Intermediate Spanish II
Course focused on complex grammar structures like the present perfect and subjunctive. Entirely taught in Spanish with assignments like essays, presentations, and projects completed in Spanish.

SPAN 3020- Intermediate Spanish Grammar and Composition (Spain)
This course was taken in Santiago de Compostela, Spain and focused on Spanish sentence structure, syntax, and Spanish stylistics. Essays and presentations were completed entirely in the target language in a Spanish classroom.

SPAN 3050- Intermediate Spanish Conversation and Composition
A deeper study of vocabulary, pronunciation, and comprehension, this class mainly consisted of class conversations done entirely in Spanish. Team projects and presentations were analyzed on a deeper level, focusing on grammatical correctness and intonation.

SPAN 3060- Spanish Composition for Business
This course focused on Spanish vocabulary for the workplace. Business compositions and reviews of grammatical structures were completed in the classroom and students were expected to be proficient in Spanish and all grammatical tenses.

SPAN 3160- Spanish for International Business I
Introduction to the Spanish business world, focusing on South and Central America. Study of the protocols, cultures, and expectations of Spanish-speaking countries in the workplace. Introduction to business vocabulary and etiquette.

SPAN 4160- Spanish for International Business II
Expansion on SPAN 3160 with a more in depth study of business cultural concepts and Hispanic business environments. Focused on the differences in management styles, marketing, and overall economic geography of businesses in Spanish-speaking countries.​
Culture and Literature Courses

​LANG 3030- Spanish Women Directors & Human Rights (Spain)
This course was about female Spanish film directors and their impact on Spanish culture. Human rights during the Franco dictatorship and the effect on women’s rights were discussed through relevant films and classroom discussions.

​SPAN 3040- Introduction to Hispanic Literary Forms
Class introducing basic literary structures focusing on fiction, poetry, and dramas. Improved writing and speaking skills in Spanish through essays and in-class discussions about the literary works studied. Literature focused on 19th and 20th century Spanish literature.​

SPAN 3070- The Hispanic World: Spain (Spain)
Completed during my semester abroad in Spain, this course centered around current social and political issues in Spain. Study of relevant historical events such as the Francoist dictatorship and the Spanish Civil War.​

SPAN 3180- Spanish Through Culture
Focus on Spanish music, youth literature, and food which helped me develop a deeper understanding of the country. Discussed current political topics and the influence of other countries on Spanish culture.​

SPAN 4060- Hispanic Narrative Fiction
Course centered around class discussion about classic Spanish literature and the time periods in which it was written. Literature focused on topics such as gender issues, religion, and socioeconomic issues.​

Business Courses

​ACCT 2010- Financial Accounting Concepts
Introduction to accounting, focusing on using financial data to analyze balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements. I completed this course over the summer and gained a deeper understanding of how knowledge about accounting is an invaluable resource within a business environment.

ECON 2110- Principles of Microeconomics
Introduction to basic economic reasoning such as the relationship between supply and demand, surpluses and shortages, and relevant mathematical equations. Discussed current events affecting the economy and analyzed economic articles about various topics such as copper and diamond mining.​

ECON 2120- Principles of Macroeconomics
Building off of ECON 2110, this course focused on the larger forces affecting economic principles such as inflation, unemployment, and economic growth. Emphasis on economics in the environment such as the costs of renewable energy.​

ECON 3140- Intermediate Microeconomics
A continued and more detailed study of microeconomics focused on the effects of market conditions in suppliers and consumers. This course showed me how economics impacts every aspect of our lives and helped me gain a better comprehension of supply chains and what causes shortages.​

ECON 3190- Environmental Economics
This course included a semester-long, extensive analysis of a current environmental policy and its impact on the economy. Throughout the semester, we discussed environmental issues such as air pollution, shoreline erosion, and overfishing and their effects on local economies.

MATH 1020- Business Calculus I
Class introducing basic calculus concepts in business settings. The course style was flipped, meaning students were expected to watch lessons and take notes before class and use class time for specific questions and practice with concepts.

MATH 2070- Business Calculus II
Expanding on MATH 1020, management scenarios were utilized to teach business calculus concepts. Introduction to derivatives and optimization of variables.

MGT 2010- Principles of Management
The impact of management in the economy. Introduction to management styles, vocabulary, and concepts. This course was centered around cultural differences and how managers can effectively adapt to new situations.

MGT 3030- Global Business
This course studies cultural differences, the global business environment, and international business concepts. Guest speakers from various countries were introduced to the class and I gained valuable knowledge from their presentations. Most importantly, the need to be flexible and open to new cultures and opportunities.​

MKT 3010- Principles of Marketing
Introduction to basic marketing principles including vocabulary and the distribution of goods and services. This course was centered around the importance of the 5Ps of marketing; Product, Price, Place, Promotion, and People.

MKT 3020- Consumer Behavior
This course served as a study of culture in relation to marketing techniques and the differences in expectations between consumers in different countries. I completed a project where I analyzed an American business and made a marketing plan for them to expand to a foreign country including benefits, risks, and costs of this expansion.

MKT 3030- Marketing and Society
This class discussed the global challenges associated with marketing to foreign countries. A heavy emphasis was placed on ethics, globalization, and the political environments in other countries.

MKT 4270- International Marketing
This international marketing course is centered around shifting a marketers thought process to become more internationally oriented. Individual environmental differences and the importance of the modification of marketing messages was emphasized in this class.

PCID 3040- Business Communications and Information Design
In this class, all students worked on a semester-long presentation with marketing recommendations for an organization on campus. Critical thinking and data analysis made up a large portion of the course alongside professional development and a resume workshop.

​ANTH 2010- Introduction to Anthropology
In this class, students worked on a semester-long project analyzing agricultural artifacts and the societies of primates and early humans. Emphasis was placed on the relationship between language and culture with a connection to present day humans.

I developed more confidence in public speaking with this class through in-class speeches and presentations. Lectures consisted of how to effectively deliver a message through public speaking and the importance of the process of communication. ​

Course centered on expository and argumentative writing. Classmates provided valuable feedback in a supportive environment to improve essays.​

ENGL 3970- British Literature Survey II
Discussion based class about classic British literature such as Sense and Sensibility and Wuthering Heights. In-class analysis of the texts allowed me to develop a deeper understanding of literature from the 18th century to the present.​

Introduction to phonetics, syntax, and semantics of the English language. Students were encouraged to focus on a specific language and I chose to research Spanglish and the importance of this language to millions of Americans.

This is a class that introduced me to my major, Language and International Business, through helping me develop my resume and connecting me with opportunities on campus relevant to my studies. Class lectures discussed tourism and agriculture in other countries such as Spain, Germany, and Japan.

Course introducing the political foundations of the U.S. and development of current political institutions. Current events were analyzed in the context of different political beliefs in a supportive environment.
